Getting your hair or nails done should be a relaxing, pleasant experience – a moment devoted to indulging yourself in a world where you’re constantly being pulled in a million directions. Scheduling an appointment at a salon is the common way of doing that, unfortunately, you’re dependent on the salon’s availability and you still need to make your way to the salon’s physical location. 

”We often found ourselves scrambling to book self-care appointments in the evening. So we surveyed 500 women in Toronto and found that they were tired of brick-and-mortar salons, and particularly fed up with working around the salon’s calendar. We decided to leave our jobs to find the solution.”

Sarah Hartkorn and Kate Dickson tested their idea of on-demand beauty professionals that would come to your home or work, by using multiple tools to manage the first 100 users manually. Once they saw happy customers booking repeat appointments and received positive feedback from beauty pros, they were ready to build a custom tech solution that met their needs. That’s when Leverage stepped in.

Having managed the entire process manually, Kate and Sarah understood their requirements and had a clear idea of what they needed. Acting as their own project managers on this project, they used our design and development teams to bring their vision to life. 

Kate & Sarah have been managing beauty pros and their clients for months, coordinating between dozens of people and finding times that worked for everyone involved a lot of back-and-forth. Besides being tedious, this manual management of all users was not scalable. They used Square for their initial website, which was easy to update but not mobile-friendly or very flexible. 

A mobile-first solution was required for on-the-go beauty pros and the clients, who wanted to book an appointment from anywhere.  LeverageIT built a completely custom solution using Angular and Ionic framework.

results / stats:

After months of collaboration, design and coding, we helped launch Primped’s app & website. Optimized for web and mobile, scheduling appointments on-the-go has never been more convenient. The booking process has improved and there are increases in the number of bookings. 

The ladies at Primped are among the most forward-thinking individuals we have ever worked with, and together we have developed an online marketplace that is bound to grow and succeed.
