about
ESHYFT helps nurses earn more, by picking up nearby shifts with the click of a button. A web portal for Facility Managers eliminates the traditional headaches of keeping a facility adequately staffed with quality nurses.

our process
Understanding client needs & requirements
Our team took the time to analyze ESHYFT’s existing product & their paint points with it. We worked with the team to prioritize their main goals for the re-designed app, planning a product that they’d be happy & proud of.
the brand
Memorable, fun and approachable
Health care brands can tend to be too serious and mundane. We used the brighter versions of traditional health care colours – blue and red. We selected very approachable fonts – the rounded Varela and Work Sans, to give an amicable sense of simplicity.

the website
A warm welcome to nurses & facilities
The majority of our website users are prospective CNAs, LPNs, and RNs who want to learn more about the platform and its value. Our major CTA is directed towards these nurses, with a special Nurse page to capture applicants. Our secondary CTA is for facility managers, who want to know how the platform could benefit them.

the app
For CNAs, LPNs, & RNs
The ESHYFT Nurse App is a one-stop shop for CNAs, LPNs, and RNs where they can do everything from browsing for shifts to viewing their earnings. It’s also where users can get in touch with facilities, submit their timecards, and much more. The UI/UX is extremely user friendly with just the basics included, keeping every action and process clear and simple.

Lead generation
Finding users in key geographies
Facebook & Instagram are particular about employment ads, they’re considered a ‘special category’ and are tougher to publish. Our team found ways to get our messaging in front of the right people on these platforms, converting them for a cost that’s lower than other marketing channels.

more
The ESHYFT team have a history in nursing staffing, where the need to provide facilities with quality staff on-demand is an everyday struggle. The initial product was built by a company in California, but the ESHYFT team were not satisfied or comfortable taking it to market. The software worked, but posting shifts was time-consuming and difficult for facility managers and the mobile nurse app wasn’t intuitive and user-friendly. We decided to completely redesign both apps. Another major deviation from the original product was the move away from the contractor model and into an employee model, meaning every CNA, LPN, and RN on the app would now be an ESHYFT employee.
To increase the convenience of Primped for users, pros, and themselves, the Primped team turned to Leverage to build a tech solution for their needs.
solution:
We worked closely with the ESHYFT team to understand their frustrations with the current product, collecting their requirements and turning it into a new product scope.
We did a complete UI/UX overhaul of both platforms, starting with the Facility Manager Portal, which was cumbersome and slow to add shifts to. Our aim was to allow facility managers to create multiple shifts in seconds. We distilled removed all the unnecessary ‘elements’ that were previously part of a shift, keeping only 5 variables for each shift; and created a unique method for creating a shift and an ability to add multiple shifts at once.
We then moved on to the nurse app, which previously lacked a bottom navigation, the original designers used a FAB (Floating Navigation Button) from Google’s Material Design, which doubled the number of clicks users needed to make for even the most rudimentary actions. Another major change that affected the entire app but especially the registration process for nurses was the move from nurses being contractors to employees. Registration was no longer available on the mobile app, instead nurses have to be approved as employees before they can view and apply for shifts on the mobile app.
For hiring, a rigorous 15-step hiring process including reference checks, license review, criminal checks, Tuberculosis screening, W-4 and I-9 completion was created to ensure every CNA, LPN and RN on ESHYFT is qualified.
Presently, our team works closely with ESHYFT to optimize both the onboarding process for both facility managers and nurses. ESHYFT is currently available in select regions in the United States, with plans to grow and scale in the near future.
We designed a modern yet highly functional search system to find pros. By integrating Google Maps and Instagram, customers can seamlessly browse through nearby pros and their portfolios. On the backend side, we introduced plug-ins to make it convenient for pros to keep track of their appointments. Another new feature we added is automation messaging. Reminder texts are sent about upcoming appointments and cancellation emails are sent with a list of back-up pros if original appointments are cancelled. To truly make this a digital experience, we use Stripe to process payments so you can skip a trip to the bank.
results / stats:
Our teams worked together for months on the planning, design, and development of the new ESHYFT Nurse App and the web app for facility managers. We launched them in the fall of 2019 in a small geographical area to beta test both apps and fix any bugs. The launch went smoothly and we’ve expanded our geographical area to an entire state. The Leverage team is supporting ESHYFT with onboarding/hiring CNAs, LPNs, and RNs, driving new applicants through social ads. We’re working on ongoing improvements for both apps, rolling out new features regularly.
