Social Media

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg wasn’t kidding when he said he wanted to turn the social network into a “personalized newspaper” for users. Brands, celebrities, politicians, and media now have a lot more content in users Facebook news feeds. This means that your company will have to work a lot harder to get the attention of Facebook’s 1.32 billion active monthly users.

How can you make sure that your next Facebook update drives the most engagement? The folks over at TrackMaven, a data tracking software, analyzed over 1.5 million Facebook posts to learn which elements get people to like, share, and click on your content. Here are a couple of interesting findings to keep in mind next time you create a Facebook post:

  • Longer is better. Facebook is not Twitter, you don’t have a character limit to base your content around. According to research, posts with 80+ words get X2 engagement.
  • Photos are your friends. Posts that contained photos increased engagement by 37%. Remember you can add a photo your post in various ways, e.g. sharing your own photo, adding a photo to a linked article, or sharing another page’s photo.
  • Don’t forget the weekend. Sunday posts receive 35% more engagement, so make the most of Facebook post scheduler.
